Welcome To TheEnnis Bluebonnet Run
About The Race
Held during the Ennis Bluebonnet Festival in the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas, the Ennis Bluebonnet Run takes runners through some of Ennis' most scenic routes. The course winds past Kachina Prairie, Lake Clark Park and Dam, and tree-covered trails, offering open views, shaded stretches, and peak bluebonnet season, all in one unforgettable run.
Our Mission
Our mission, through CROME, is to use community and movement to open doors for local students. The Ennis Bluebonnet Run funds scholarships, mentorship, and career pathways that help Ellis County students pursue college, trades, and future careers with confidence.

Our StoryA race that funds futures
The Ennis Bluebonnet Run is an annual 5K, 10K, Fun Run and Kids 5K held each spring in Ennis, Texas — and every registration funds scholarships, mentorship, and career support for Ellis County students.
Why Ennis, why bluebonnets
Ennis is the town the Texas Legislature named the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas, and every April its trails draw visitors from across the state for the Bluebonnet Trails Festival. The run happens right in the middle of it: racers cover courses that pass Lake Clark Park, the conserved native grassland of Kachina Prairie, and downtown streets lined with festival crowds — at the exact moment the wildflowers peak.
The organization behind the run
The race is organized by CROME — the Claudio Romero Organization for Minority Empowerment, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Ellis County. CROME carries forward Claudio Romero’s legacy of giving back: guiding students toward post-secondary success through mentorship, career exploration, and scholarships. Runners come back year after year for the same reason — as one put it, “thank y’all so much for putting on this event and continuing Claudio’s legacy.”
What your entry does
First run in April 2025, the Bluebonnet Run heads into its third year having awarded 30+ scholarships and raised more than $40,000 for education. There are no middlemen in that math: proceeds go to CROME’s scholarship and mentorship programs for local students. See the numbers and stories on the impact page.

What race day feels like
Chip-timed racing for those who want it, an untimed Fun Run for those who don’t, a kids’ race where every finisher gets a medal — and the festival going on all around you when you’re done. Custom bluebonnet finisher’s medals, a race tee, and a goodie bag from local sponsors come with every registration.
