Course Maps — Ennis Bluebonnet Run
The Route
Route Overview
The Ennis Bluebonnet Run includes 5K and 10K race options through scenic Ennis routes near Kachina Prairie and Lake Clark Park.
Course GuideA guide to the course
Both races run through Ennis, Texas — the Official Bluebonnet City of Texas — at the height of bluebonnet season, while the Bluebonnet Trails Festival fills the town around the course. Expect open prairie, lake views, and wildflowers by the mile.
The 5K route
- 3.1 miles
- One loop
- Chip timed
A single scenic loop from the shared start/finish line, taking in the park side of the course with Lake Clark’s shaded paths and water views. It’s a route for every level: competitive runners race it, and the untimed Fun Run and walkers cover the same ground at their own pace.
The 10K route
- 6.2 miles
- Double loop
- Chip timed
The 10K doubles the experience: a two-loop course through the heart of downtown Ennis that stretches out past Lake Clark Park and the dam, crosses the conserved native grassland of Kachina Prairie, and reaches its turnaround by the Ennis Municipal Airport before heading back in.
Terrain, timing & rules
- Hybrid surface: mostly pavement with off-pavement sections and a few inclines — trail shoes aren’t needed, but sure footing helps
- Chip timed, with water stations on course and at the finish line
- Up to 2 hours to complete your race
- No pets on the course; strollers are best suited to the 5K Fun Run / Walk
- A modified rain route is used if severe weather affects the course
